Freebord Team Rider Profile
Name: Luke Howell
Location: Melville, Western Australia
Freebord setup – what do you ride? Corporate 80/Elite 80, S2 Bindings on outside holes, Slashers, Joyride centers, max rocker, Bones Reds all round.
Your signature Freebord move: Even though it’s a handslide, and even though I never do them anymore, it has to be a Trinitygunn. My favourite move is a simple old revert 3, I always say to my brother (Stephen Howell, Pro Rider), that they just work so well.
Influences in life? My family, friends, good people I meet, Freebording, everything that happens every day.
If you could have any company sponsor to go along with Freebord who would it be? DC Shoes. I go through shoes pretty fast, and I love DC’s. Plus they have that Mountain Lab, maybe I would get to go there!!
Worst bail? That gap wipeout at the start of ‘December’, riding with the locals and John Laudin and Nate Abrego on their Tour Down Under. It was a fairly basic jump over a wide kerb, then into a drop. I think I caught my back trucks on the kerb, which threw me forwards off the board. I couldn’t get my feet under me so tried to take it a bit with my hands, but that didn’t last very long and I ended up sliding a bit on my face. I was ok after it, just a little dizzy, but Laudin had to drive because I couldn’t really see.
Any tips for riders out there? Practice, Practice, Practice and don’t give up until you get where you want to be.
Duncs: jackass or genius? Jackass! Jackass!
Words to Live By: Respect

“Practice, Practice, Practice and don’t give up until you get where you want to be.”
