Pull pilot and passenger out of burning wreckage? Check and check.

Freebord’s Heroic Deed of the Week officially goes to the SA crew of Riccardo Webb, Nic Haralambous, Mike Stopforth, Craig Rodney, Rich Mulholland and Jonathan Herbst for doing all of the above and keeping cool under pressure. You guys can save our lives any day!

The Times (South Africa): Plane crashes into bakkie – no fatalities

A group of Johannesburg friends who saw the crash – and whose companions, Braganca and Vaulina, were in the bakkie – dragged the pilot and his passenger from the burning wreckage moments before it was engulfed by flames.

The group were “freeboarding”, an extreme sport in which a skateboard is ridden on steep tarred roads.

Rodney said the group did not feel heroic but “we were lucky to be there for them” because the plane was engulfed in flames moments after the men were dragged to safety.
