We love this shit…

Dear Freebord,

I had such a great experience I wanted to let you know about it. I think I may have taken the reverse approach than most people; freebording taught me to snowboard rather than visa versa.

After growing up snow skiing my whole life, I got a freebord because I though it looked like a blast and I love to longboard. It took me a while to get the hang of freebording but I got it and have a blast doing it. I’ve been freebording for about 3 years now. For several years I have owned skis so I haven’t wanted to pay to rent a snowboard. I wanted to snowboard just to see if freebording would pay off but I was always skeptical, thinking that there was no way the ride was JUST alike. Well mid December 2008 I was skiing in Colorado and I got my chance. A buddy who was snowboarding wanted to trade for a day. I got on the snowboard and I would say it literally took me 3 turns to be in absolute control. I had never snowboarded before and the ride was identical to freebording. I was amazed and felt like a natural all day thanks to freebord. Not only could I ride a snowboard, but I could explain how it works.

I hope this is an encouragement to you guys and please know that you have an incredible product. Thanks for all the fun you have provided me.

Ned

Ned: You fucking rock dude – keep up the riding and kill it out there on the slopes!

My mate did this he knew how to ski then he learnt how to freebord to a good standered and then we went up to our local snow dome and he took to it like a duck to water (or a freeborder to snow)

  • same result last year

That’s awesome! Im teaching some guys to freebord from work tomorrow so that when we go snowboard they will already know how to ride, or at least know the concept.

not to sound like a broken record but i saw two kids from OZ go off jumps and hit rails their first run after only riding a freebord for 3 years.. honestly though i dont think u can just freebord for a few hours and know how to snowboard.. you have to have experience in either sport to really be good at either..

i just got back from a week in the snow, my third one on a snowboard now, i had like, 40 minutes or something with an instructor before my first snowboard holiday a couple yrs ago and the rest is totally down to freebord for sure. im no pro but i feel totally comfortable on a snowboard. i got a freebord in the first place to learn to snowboard thinking it might cut down the lesson time, worked so much better than i ever thought it would, now im having awesome winter holidays pretty much because of freebord, this dudes in the same boat as a whole bunch of people i think

chea, but the return is shitty.

I can’t freebord during the winter… something about snowboarding fucks up everything I know about freebording.

  • Bilal says:

    At sean.

It takes a while but you can train your body to differentiate the two. I use the freebord to train for things on the slope.

Last year in between snowboarding trips i would work on switch on my freebord and then try to emulate it on the snow and eventually learned switch.

This year ive been doing the same thing just trying to keep my fluidity while freebording so i can be fluid on the snow. Try it, it helps.
