Freebord Rider Profile : David Bickett

Q:How old are you? || Bickett: I’m 25

Q:Where do you live? || Bickett: I live in Riverside, CA.

Q:What’s you favorite riding spot? || Bickett: There are so many amazing hills it makes it hard to choose just one, but I would have to say my favorite spot is “Mt. Rubidoux” It’s about 5 minutes from my house and with only a 10 minute hike up the side, you get to enjoy 2 miles of curvy, butter smooth mountain trail.

Q:What’s your board setup?||  Bickett: Im currently on an 80cm owl deck with bent hangers and da blues. I have my bindings as far out as they can go and angled all the way out. How did you get started? I was shown a freebord video a few years back by my buddy Jon. It wasn’t until December of 2011 that I received my first Freebord. I didn’t know anyone else that had one at the time so I pretty much learned by falling and figuring out what “not to do”. haha

Q:How long have you been riding? || Bickett: 2 years now. I have been riding since January, 2012.

Q:What’s your favorite thing about Freebord? || Bickett: My Favorite thing has got to be the amount of control you have on a freebord. The feeling of throwing a smooth spin while flying down the street is incredibly addicting

Q:Do you snowboard, if so where? ||  Bickett: I grew up snowboarding and love it. I go to Mt. High but I haven’t been able to go much the last few years but thats why I got a freebord.

FRA2013_DavidBickett_FlipQ:What were you thinking when you tried that crazy front flip at FRA’s? || Bickett: I told myself I wanted to try a flip this year and the set up was perfect. I actually wanted to throw a backflip but ended up trying a front flip instead. It didn’t work out quite like I planned in my head though. But don’t worry, I’ll get it down.

Q:What do you have in store for next year? || Bickett: I’ve been focusing a lot on my downhill lately but I’m really gonna push the big air and freestyle stuff this year. I’ve been having fun mixing my freestyle stuff with my downhill.

Q:
What would you say to others thinking about getting into the sport? ||  Bickett: Freebord is by far the coolest sport I’ve ever done. I highly recommend getting into freebord because as soon as you try it you won’t wanna get off the bord

    Very smooth riding. Those spin slide rotations have always been difficult for me. Keep it up! Mo videos too. 🙂
