Freebord Lab
Freebord Mfg. was founded on the principles of innovation and progression, we constantly strive to advance our products and improve the ride. This requires loads of prototypes and endlessly testing the wear and tear of our products. Heres a quick glimpse into a few testing initiatives.
While our DaBlues wheels are insanely durable, we believe they can always be improved and tweaked. So here at the Freebord Lab our goal is to continually develop a longer lasting and grippier wheel.
Heat, water, and friction are all taken in to account during the testing process to ensure a proper simulation of the variety of environmental conditions our riders freebord in.
Wheels are stressed tested for several hours at a high rate of speed against a simulated pavement, results are then measured and recorded .
We take a lot of precautions when introducing new products into our lineup; prototyping is a very slow, expensive and tedious process that from start to finish usually takes months or even years to deliver a finished product.
All this testing in a controlled environment is awesome but there is absolutely no substitute for just going out and riding what we sell. Check out our Production Manager, Bob Glashan, shredding the jersey barrier outside of the factory.
Our Pro Team is also involved in much of the R&D here at Freebord; Mike Hoppe for instance who has a degree in Architectural Engineering and has pioneered and tested a variety of his own prototypes and ideas, is also the head of Freebord’s official product development team.
We don’t just stop at wheels, we are currently working on various other exciting projects such as more bushings, improving the trucks, etc.
Be on the lookout for exciting new innovative Freebord products coming out in the future!
So rad!
If there’s one change I wish you guys could make, it would be lighter setups.
A wide version of the 80cm deck would also be epic.
Thanks Ted, noted!
